Spanish Colonial School, 19th Century Portrait of Saint Eloi Holding a Crozier and a Goldsmith's Hammer Unsigned. Oil on panel, 14 1/4 x 10 5/8 in. (36.0 x 27.0 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, craquelure, varnish discoloration, surface imperfections and grime, bowing to the panel. N.B. Saint Elio (Eligius) is best known for being the patron saint of horses and those who work with them. He was also the patron saint of goldsmiths, other metalworkers, and coin collectors.
