English, 19th century. Three piece ironstone china set (possibly Ridgway) with Oriental motif throughout with pink and rust orange flowers accented with cobalt blue and gilt accents comprising of a shaped underplate with gilt scrolled handles and border with cartouches with fruit and rectangular book or box; and a lidded soup tureen with cobalt and gilt handles at sides of rounded body, lid with large flower form finial also in cobalt with gilt accents. Underside of underplate and serving tureen with brown mark that reads "IMPROVED IRON-STONE CHINA" below two heraldic lions flanking crowned oval shield with C scroll border below crown. Painted "251" below likely for pattern number. Overall approximate height 12.5", underplate width 14.75", underplate depth 12.9".
