Gustave Henri Colin (French, 1828-1910) On to the Basque Celebration Signed "Gustave Colin" l. r. Oil on canvas, 25 5/8 x 21 3/8 in. (65.0 x 54.5 cm), in a period frame. Condition: Lined, scattered retouch, fine craquelure, staining to the reverse. Provenance: Dealer, France; Private Collection, United States; Private Collection, South Dakota (acquired in 2003); acquired from the above by the present owner in 2009. Estimate $1,000-1,500 Framed dimensions: 35 1/2 by 29 1/4 in. A condition report accompanies the lot. The work was glue lined about 75 years ago to restore a puncture to the l.r. corner. Retouch to upper left quadrant. Scattere minor inpainting. Stretcher is original. Frame is period (restored), but not original to the work.
