Elizabeth O'Neill Verner (American, 1883-1979) The Preacher Man Signed "Elizabeth O'Neill Verner" in charcoal l. r., titled in pencil on the reverse. Pastel and charcoal on silk presumably mounted to board, sight size 15 7/8 x 11 7/8 in. (40.3 x 30.2 cm), framed. Condition: Fox-like accretions to l.r. quadrant, not examined out of frame. Estimate $2,500-3,500 The work has not been removed from its frame, but the fox-like marks may be mold. There is unobtrusive pigment displacement, and the silk (or similar?) is gently toned. There is a pentimento around the figure's head. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
