Wayne Beam Morrell (American, 1923-2013) March Winds Signed "WAYNE MORRELL" l. r., signed and inscribed "...WOOD BRIDGE AT GOOD HARBOR BEACH/MARCH WINDS 1968/GLOUCESTER, MASS." on the reverse. Oil on board, 16 x 20 in. (40.6 x 50.8 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime, accretions/markings to sky. Provenance: The estate of Justin L. Cobb III, Massachusetts. N.B. An inscription by the artist on the reverse indicates that a watercolor of similar subject was exhibited by him in the American Watercolor Society show in New York, March 1968. Estimate $700-900 The artist used the handle end of the brush to work some areas of the paint. The work will improve with a cleaning.
