Ibo Maiden Spirit Helmet Mask, Agbogho Mmuo, the hollowed-out helmet form pierced around the rim for attachment of a cloth head covering, the narrow angular face with pointed chin and open mouth, sharp aquiline nose framed by small oval slit eyes and ears pierced through, face painted with white kaolin, raised black eyebrows with scarification star between, and wearing an elaborate triple crested openwork headdress decorated with painted geometric patterns, with one comb protruding from the elaborately decorated coiffure, ht. 18 1/2 in.
