Phelps/Westport, CT.," blued-steel needle with lock-down knob on underside, vernier arm stamped "2E125," with dual spirit levels. Provenance: The collection of William H. Skerritt. Note: According to Charles Smart, on February 1, 1852, Mr. Phelps sold his interest in the partnership between himself and Lewis E. Gurley and moved to Westport, Connecticut.
