Mother-of-pearl-inlaid White Porcelain Cup and Saucer, China, possibly Kangxi period, a rounded shallow dish and a bowl-shape cup, decorated with a Daoist landscape in mother-of-pearl inlay to the dish interior and the cup exterior, six-character Chenghua mark in a double ring in underglaze blue on base, ht. to 1 7/8, dia. to 5 1/8 in. Provenance: Property of Carl Crossman. Estimate $600-800 extensive flaking and cracking to lacquered layers, cup with a repaired chip with two hairline cracks, surface stain and scratches particularly to the dish.
