Pair of Clair-de-lune Vases, China, 19th century, baluster shape on splayed foot with recessed base, with knobs in the shape of a stylized elephant head with a ring, six-character Qianlong mark in kaishu script on base, ht. 7 7/8 in. Provenance: The collection of a New England gentleman. Estimate $700-900 uneven glaze with allover spotty impurities. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
