Four Assorted Inros and a Netsuke, Japan, 19th century, a rectangular gold-lacquered four-case inro, decorated with boats and pines in bas-relief, without a cord, ojime, and netsuke; a rectangular encased maki-e-lacquered four-case inro, decorated with landscape design, with a red bead ojime; a covered basket-form bamboo inro, decorated with pomegranates, with a toad-shape netsuke; a rectangular encased maki-e-lacquered inro, decorated with inlaid fish and a turtle, the covered netsuke, with red-painted goldfish on cover; and a stringed pouch-shape netsuke, inlaid design with stone and shell pieces, inro ht. to 3 3/8, wd. to 3 3/4 in. Estimate $300-500 wear and tear to lacquered layers with surface scratches and chips to some, gilt loss and abrasions, the toad missing an inlaid eye.
