Blue-ground Kyoto Kinkozan Satsuma Vase, Japan, late 19th century, bulbous form with waisted neck on a stemmed foot, decorated with a mountain-and-water landscape and a rooster and hen under wisteria in two panels against a cobalt blue ground with a fish-and-wave design in gold, both scenes sealed "Sozan," signed "Kyoto Kinkozan jo" in an ornate rectangular cartouche in gold on base, ht. 6 3/8 in. Estimate $300-500 repairs to bottom and mouth, minor potting or glazing flaw to base, gilt loss to some areas, mild surface dirt. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
