Gandharan Gray Schist Stele, Kushan period, possibly 2nd/3rd century, the narrative panel depicts the standing Buddha in the center with attendants to his left and right, all within an architectural surround of columns and lintels, lg. 16, ht. 9 1/2 in. Provenance: Purchased in Karachi in the 1960s by an Edward Durell Stone architect, then by descent to the present owner.
