Painting of Desavarani Ragini from a Ragamala Series, India, Rajasthan, Bundi, late 18th century, ink, opaque color and gold on wasli, depicting a lady in a palace room at night awaiting her lover, with painted floral pattern and line borders, framed and glazed, sight size 10 1/4 x 7 in. Provenance: Purchased in the U.S. in 1972 and descended in the Steig family. Estimate $3,500-4,500 Not examined out of frame, possibly backed, small areas of paint and gilt loss.
