Betsy Bennett (American, 1928-2007) Lighthouse Keeping. Signed "B. Bennett ©" l.r., titled, dated, and signed ".../© 1991/Betsy Bennett" on the reverse (as shown in a photocopy affixed to the frame backing paper), identified on a label from Tree's Place Gallery, Orleans, Massachusetts, affixed to the frame backing paper. Oil on panel, 30 x 44 in., framed. Condition: Minor accretions to center of sky, very subtle scuff to u.r. quadrant. Provenance: The estate of Paul J. Tracey. Estimate $600-800 A minute bit of what appears to be silver leaf, possibly from the frame, located on the surface of the painting, lower center, 4 inches up from the lower edge. This is visible only in raking light and only from a certain angle. Frame backing paper was not removed during cataloging, so the inscription noted there was not verified.
