Childe Hassam (American, 1859-1935) House on Main Street, Easthampton, 1922 (Cortissoz/Clayton 213). Signed with the artist's cipher and inscribed "imp" in pencil l.r., signed, inscribed and dated "Easthampton/NY 22/[cipher]/1922" in the plate l.l. Etching on paper, plate size approximately 6 x 12 in., framed. Condition: Toning, not examined out of frame. Estimate $300-500 The frame was opened during preview, and the print is not laid down. It had been affixed to the window mat with masking tape at intervals around the reverse, but the glue had dried out so that the print is now loose. The print and frame had been back with corrugated cardboard. It also appears that the print was once lightly glued to a different backing. There are tack holes around the outer margins. Sheet size is 9 x 15 1/8 inches. The print was not put back in its frame, and is now held in a print sleeve. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
