Likely English or American, 19th century. "Portrait of An Elegant Lady", oil on tin, signed lower right - possibly "EFH". Painting depicts a young beauty with brunette hair seated in half length wearing an open necked light blue dress with belted waist, matching shawl and jeweled pin, possibly holding several robin's eggs, and wearing a modest smile as she peers across her near shoulder at an unseen object. Subject is placed in a chair in front of a hanging drape. Label on verso with indistinguishable period script writing. Framed 25" x 21.5", unframed 19" x 15.25".
