Fender Princeton Reverb Amplifier, 1967, date code QF. Provenance: The estate of J. Geils. Estimate $300-500 Untested. Repair notes: "The 1967 blackface Fender Princeton Reverb, with date code "QF" was extensively modified and rebuilt, (March, 2006), into a custom 1 x 12" designed to maximize clean headroom. To that end, it was rebuilt with a custom Mercury Magnetics output transformer, the power supply was rebuilt with discreet electrolytic filter capacitors and choke, and it was fitted with an early magnesium frame Celestion S12-150 T3771 speaker. Jay also fabricated the custom luggage tote rig that was fastened to the top of the amp, to facilitate its easy transport when traveling to specific solo fly-to gigs. (There were a couple of very specific solo lecture/gigs that initially inspired the project).
