Cranch, Christopher Pearse (1813-1892), Original Manuscript of the Poem, "In a Library," February 4 & 6, 1879. Single sheet of laid paper inscribed on one side with the two stanzas of Cranch's poem written in John Fiske's (1842-1901) library, signed and dated at the bottom, 9 x 7 1/4 in. [together with] an explanatory note in Fiske's hand, signed. Cranch's poem was published in his book, Ariel and Caliban, in 1887.
