Carved Mahogany Side Chair, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, the serpentine crest rail with central shell continuing to a scroll-carved "owl" splat and beaded stiles, above a trapezoidal overupholstered seat with serpentine front rail joining cabriole legs with punchwork and acanthus carving ending in claw-and-ball feet, joined to the chamfered back legs by block-, vase-, and ring-turned stretchers, refinished, ht. 37, seat ht. 17 in.
