Recorded by a Television Camera Aboard the Faith 7 Capsule Two photographs representing the first TV pictures transmitted from space, including Gordon Cooper inside the Faith 7 capsule and the cloud cover over Florida, Mercury-Atlas 9, May 15, 1963. The first numbered "NASA S-63-7876" in black on the recto u.l. margin, NASA MSC caption on the verso; the second with NASA number "63-MA9-152" in a NASA HQ caption on the verso. Vintage gelatin silver prints, image sizes to 7 1/2 x 9 5/8 in. (18.9 x 24.3 cm), unmatted. Condition: Minor wear at corners of sheet. N.B. The first picture shows a ghostly image of the astronaut. It was the first time an American astronaut had sent back television images from space. The camera's two-second scan rate required special equipment which was set up at Cape Canaveral (NASA captions).
