Cane Presented to Captain F. A. Stitzer, Pennsylvania National Guard, c. 1870s, ebony cane with gold handle with foliate designs, engraved on the top "To/Capt. F.A. Stitzer/FROM/Co. K," ht. 37 1/4 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Note: F.A. Stitzer was Captain of the Easton Grays, and participated in the battle between striking railroad workers, police, and militia in Reading, Pennsylvania, on July 24th, 1877. Estimate $200-400 In very good condition with only a few dings in the finish.
