Spanish Sword Identified to General Henry Washington Benham, c. mid to late 19th century, silver-plated brass hilt with a lion pommel, shagreen and wire-wrapped grip with the Spanish crest, engraved on the knuckle bow "GEN. H. W. BENHAM. U.S.A.," blade etched with foliate designs and "FABRICA DE TOLEDO," with a plated steel scabbard, blade lg. 32, overall lg. 37 1/4 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A.
