George Washington Inaugural Button, c. 1789, non-dug brass button, stamped on the face "GW" and "LONG LIVE THE PRESIDENT," with Saint Andrew's crosses inside the border, dia. 32 mm. Provenance: Passed down through the family of Civil War officer and founder of Bath Iron Works, Thomas W. Hyde, a Brevet Major General at the end of the war, he received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Antietam. Estimate $3,000-5,000 In very good condition with intact shank (slightly bent). Face is sharp and crisp.
