Carved Pennsylvania Cavalry Ring, c. 1861-62, bone rectangle carved "RA Kerr/Co. A, 8th Pa. Cav.y" with a shield, flags, and foliate designs, ht. 1 1/4, wd. 1 7/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Note: Private Robert A. Kerr enlisted on August 28, 1861, and was discharged on a surgeon's certificate on July 6, 1862. Reportedly Kerr was the model for the 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry monument in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Estimate $200-400 Some light staining on the bone but in very good condition.
