David Wood Cherry Tall Clock, Newburyport, Massachusetts, c. 1810, fret-top case with three brass ball and spire finials stamped "England," freestanding brass-mounted turned columns flank the roman numeral painted iron dial signed "David Wood Newburyport," seconds bit, and calendar aperture, with raised gilt and floral decorated arch, and spandrels, inset quarter columns flank the full-length waist door, resting on four bracket feet with delicate designed skirt, eight-day, time and strike movement with false plate cast "Osborne," regulated by a strap-brass pendulum, and two lead weights, ht. 90 in. with finial. Estimate $5,000-7,000 original fret with some replaced glue blocks and repairs, original feet, original signature, some numerals have been touched up, original seating board, calendar repainted, hood door needs to be reset or attached, lacking bottom board, movement sits forward on case up rights.
