HOFFMAN/M.O.H./JUNE 6, 1918/2ND DIV./U.S.M.C.," marked on the dial "Elgin Natl. Watch Co," marked on the movement "Elgin Natl. Watch Co 3703174/Elgin Ill," dia. 2 3/16 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Note: Janson received the army and navy medals of honor for his action on June 6, 1918, at Chateau-Thierry, France. He later changed his name to Charles F. Hoffman. Estimate $400-600 In very good condition although the watch needs cleaning to operate.
