Model 1817 U. S. Flintlock Rifle Conversion, c. 1840, walnut stock with patchbox and two cartouche marks on the left side, lock marked on the tail "MIDDTN/CONN/1840" and in front of the hammer "N. STARR & SON/U.S," barrel dated "1841" on the tang with proof marks on the left side, barrel lg. 36, overall lg. 51 1/2 in. Estimate $400-600 Stock has some dings and nicks, some light rust in the bore but the rifling is intact, lock functions properly, and some pitting at the breech.
