Apache Coiled Storage Basket, first quarter 20th century, with design composed of four checkerboard bands running from the base to rim of the basket, (some fading of the pattern), ht. 14 1/2 in. Provenance: Collected by Lt. William Weigel, c. 1894, while serving at Whipple barracks, Arizona, when he led a company of Apache scouts; a period cabinet card photograph of Weigel with his scouts accompanies the basket.
