Two Tobacco Boxes, c. 1770s, a pewter box identified to Joseph Fox, engraved "J Fox" on the top face, marked "JF" on the lid with other engraved designs; the reverse with a duck scratched into the pewter; and a tin box with a spring latch, with a note that states "Samuel Lovejoys of Milford NH/Tobaco box carried through the war/of our independence given to/G.W. Sanderson by his own hand I now/give it to G.F. Sanderson of Worcester Mass/Shirley Jan 29/45 G.W. Sanderson." Note: Joseph Fox was a delegate to the Provincial Congress from Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and a Lieutenant in Captain Ebenezer Bridge's company, Colonel John Whetcomb's Regiment of minutemen, who marched on the alarm of the Concord Expedition on April 19th, 1775. Estimate $100-150 Both in very good condition, the pewter box has a few dings and nicks from use.
