Ames South Carolina Sword and Scabbard, c. 1820s-40s, brass hilt (broken quillon) and langet with a palmetto tree and foliate designs, steel blade, and a steel scabbard engraved with a palmetto tree and foliate designs, and a scroll marked "N.P. AMES/CUTLER/SPRINGFIELD/MASS," blade lg. 31, overall lg. 36 3/4 in. Estimate $1,500-2,500 Hilt is missing a quillon and the pommel has been off the sword before, blade has a few nicks and patination, scabbard has a few small dents but is in good condition.
