Ephraim Downes Mahogany Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock, Bristol, Connecticut, c. 1825, scroll-top case with freestanding turned columns flanking the full-length glazed door, painted wood roman numeral dial, lower reverse-painted glass of a village scene, maker's label inside states in part: "Manufacture by Ephraim Downes for George Mitchell," wooden thirty-hour time and strike movement with two cast iron weights and a pendulum, ht. 31 in. Estimate $400-500 Original lower glass with some paint loss. Label in good condition with wear in weight area. Has finials, winding key and pendulum and two cast iron weights.
