Dent Eight-day Marine Chronometer, London, "Chronometer Maker to the Queen," no. 2286, 4 1/2-in. silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and up/down indicator dials, marked with maker's name, location, and number as above, blued-steel hands, chain fusee movement with helical hairspring, split bimetallic balance with adjusting screws, and a spring detent, in a fully gimbaled brass bowl, all housed in a glazed three-tier mahogany box with a dual Fahrenheit and Reaumur thermometer in the second tier and an enameled plaque on the front marked "DENT 2286," ht. 7 1/2 in. Estimate $4,000-6,000 Chronometer ticks but does not stay running. Thermometer tube broken.
