Italian School, 17th/18th Century Two Ink Drawings: Bacchus and Study of Struggling Figures. Both unsigned, Struggle inscribed "Metamor. lib.9." l.c. Sizes to 4 x 3 3/4 in., both framed. Condition: Toning, staining, Struggle with old tears and small losses, laid down on secondary paper support. Estimate $200-400 The Struggling Figures may be an early 17th century illustraion or vignette for a print, suggested by the framing line and by the Ovid notation. The Bacchus figure on the wine cask is probably later, late 17th or early 18th century.
