Mahogany Serpentine Slant-lid Desk, probably North Shore, Massachusetts, late 18th century, with thumb-molded lid, stepped interior of valanced compartments and drawers centering a shell-carved drawer and half-baluster document drawers, and four graduated drawers on molded base and carved claw-and-ball feet, old replaced brasses, (imperfections), ht. 43 3/4, wd. 42, dp. 23 1/2 in. Estimate $1,500-2,500 lid hinges changed and patched, some minor moisture staining, shrinkage cracking, and scratching to top, shrinkage cracks to both case sides.
