Mott Iron Works, New York, c. 1886, the flattened full-body form modeled after Bartholdi's Statue of Liberty on Bedloe's Island in New York Harbor, with gilt and verdigris surface, ht. 42, arrow lg. 44 1/2 in. Provenance: The estate of Mr. Tyner, Cabbot Street, Mount Holyoke, Massachusetts, purchased directly from J.L. Mott in 1886-88; Jeffrey Tillou Antiques, Litchfield, Connecticut; to a private Massachusetts collection. Literature: "Vanes, Bannerets and Finials," in the J.L.
