Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Tall Case Clock, Aaron Willard Jr. , Boston, c. 1800, the pierced fret and reeded plinths with brass Greek-key-decorated finials, white-painted and polychrome decorated 13-in. iron dial signed "Aaron Willard Junr/BOSTON," on a Roxbury case with molded waist door and flaring French feet, (restoration, dial with some flaking), ht. 94 in. Provenance: A Hingham, Massachusetts, estate. Estimate $3,000-5,000 with two red-painted tin-cased weights, door key, pendulum, and winder. Dial old but not original to case - the two have been married. It appears as if alterations have been made to the hood and door in order to accommodate a 13-inch dial (originally a 12-inch dial was likely there). The fret is a very good replacement.
