Pine Tall Case Clock, Samuel Norton, Hingham, Massachusetts, early 19th century, pierced fret above the tombstone hood and glazed hood door opening to a white-painted iron dial with brass boss inscribed with maker's name, eight-day brass weight-driven movement, on a waist with tombstone door, and base with applied bracket, old refinish, ht. 91 1/4 in. Provenance: A Hingham, Massachusetts, estate. Estimate $1,500-2,500 with three brass finials, winder, and tin cased weights. The fret is replaced. The dial is retouched and the numbers are strengthened. There are indications that the movement and the case are associated/married. The case was once painted.
