Chateau Latour Haut Brion 1978 Pessac Leognan u: one top shoulder, two high shoulder, wear to capsules, losses to one capsule base, light nicking to labels (bin scrape to one) "This is a wine I try to purchase at wine auctions. One of the top wines of the 1978 vintage, La Tour-Haut-Brion's color remains a murky garnet/purple. An explosive nose offers up aromas of roasted meats and herbs, truffles, licorice, Asian spices, and sweet black currant fruit. It is powerful, muscular, and full-bodied, with considerable tannin. This profoundly rich wine is just beginning to reach its plateau of maturity, where it should remain for another 10-20 years. It is a remarkable effort! Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020." R. Parker for TWA, 95 pts. 10/97 3 bottles Provenance: Nantucket Cellar Estimate $600-800 The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging.
