Purvis Young (American, 1943-2010) Procession through the City Signed "young" c. r. Acrylic on particle board, 25 1/2 x 69 in. (64.8 x 175.3 cm), unframed. Condition: Scattered pinholes and abrasions, surface grime. Estimate $1,000-1,500 The scattered pinholes seem to be inherent to the found piece of particle board chosen by the artist. Sets of two holes run along the edges of the work, and a line of the double holes runs horizontally across the upper center--these are possibly holes from staples. There are two notches in the right edge of the work, and there is wear to the lower left corner. Provenance: Dr. Rene Pelley-Kouri, Miami, Florida, to the current private Florida collection in 1998. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Condition requests can be obtained via email (lot inquiry button) or by telephone to the appropriate gallery location (Boston/617.350.5400 or Marlborough/508.970.3000).
