Eric Sloane (American, 1905-1985) Low Tide Signed "Sloane" l. l., also signed "Sloane" beneath the primary signature (partially hidden by the frame edge), titled l.r., signed and inscribed "Eric Sloane/New Milford/Conn" on the reverse. Oil on Masonite, 22 5/8 x 32 1/4 in. (57.5 x 82.7 cm), framed. Condition: Good. Provenance: A Connecticut estate. Estimate $6,000-8,000 In a House of Heydenryk frame measuring 31 x 40 1/2 in. Numbered on the reverse and on the frame: "99468-2" and "499002A." The artist may have signed the work a second time due to the first signature becoming hidden when the work was fitted into a frame. The second signature was incised in some new paint, so that just the bottom half of the first signature remains visible, but is located below the lip of the frame.
