French . 950 Silver-gilt Covered Bowl and Undertray, Paris, 1819-38, maker's mark "CVP," chased foliate circular finial to cover, the urn-form bowl with leaftip registers and two scrolled handles, on a circular tray, total ht. 6 3/4 in., approx. 29.9 troy oz., in a fitted leather case. Provenance: Skinner, Inc., Sale 1912, Lot 75, April 1999. Estimate $4,000-6,000 In good overall condition with only light surface wear, a few pinprick dents to underside of lid (not visible from exterior). Leather case with wear, losses, abrasions, uppermost casing broken on one side, loss on one latch.
