British School, 18th/19th Century Study of a Tree Unsigned, attributed to John Constable in an inscription on the frame backing. Pencil on wove paper, 9 1/4 x 6 1/2 in. (23.5 x 16.6 cm), framed. Condition: Staining to margins primarily to left edge, unpressed creases, toning, paper tape hinge at u.c. edge of the verso. Provenance: Inscribed on the frame backing: "from Auctions House Christie's, London. to Fred Boxer, Sixtina Gallery, 5 Ave. New York City, 1959-60."
