George Nakashima Cabinet Walnut, natural fiber cloth New Hope, Pennsylvania, June 4, 1957 Rectangular top with free front edge over two sliding doors, originally designed as a radio cabinet with open back for the release of heat, back later closed for use as a credenza, a sliding tray rests over the area of circular holes that held the radio tubes, the historical integrity of the piece has been maintained, signed Danby on base, ht. 32 1/2, wd. 80, dp. 21 in. Provenance: Made for Danby Radio Corp., 19S. 21st Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as one of four commissioned to be made by Mr. Nakashima. The cabinet has been in the family since its purchase from Danby. Estimate $15,000-25,000 The back and cloth have been replaced . Original open back available , some dark spots on top.
