Chair appears to have been painted twice in its history, with a smooth clear coat of finish also having been applied at some point.
Very minor areas of roughness along front edge of seating. Base shows a thin band of loss to wood measuring three inches in length. Underneath this loss there exists a metal plate used to reinforce an older split to wood. Overall example is sturdy and has an attractive vintage appearance.
