Continental (likely Tyrolean), 19th century (circa 1838). Carved and polychrome wooden blanket chest or trunk of rectangular form with blue and red painted finish throughout, hand wrought iron handles on sides, front with turned wood supports in relief dividing hand painted scenes of flowers and European village above script text in German, dated lower right 1838. Interior opens to storage within, lidded area on right side. Approximate height 22.4", width 51.125", depth 25".
