British School, mid 19th century. "Riverside Gathering", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Horizontal naturalistic landscape painting depicting a calm river at the base of mountains with the water meandering toward the viewer at left with a country cottage on the right bank at center flanked by stony dirt path before it and tall feathery green trees, with a figural grouping at the water's edge to right foreground engaged in casual conversation. Export label to verso "Wingate & Johnston Ltd., Ipswich, Suffolk". Framed approximately 32.75" x 23.75", unframed approximately 19.25" x 28".
