The Wheeler Expedition set is complete and consists of 50 views;
they are all held in protective Mylar sleeves but are not mounted. Stereoscopic images: Photographs in overall very good condition considering their age. Some light and occasional fraying, light yellowing, and light foxing of cardboard backings of the stereoscopic photographs, and most have curled and do not lay completely flat (often a characteristic of such examples). Some minor wear/fraying/losses to the box containing the Grand Canyon stereoscopic photos by Underwood, commensurate with age. Stereoscopic viewers: A few splits to the wooden lid, some chips to the bottom corners, and wear to the metal hardware of one, and light wear to the outer surfaces (including light dents/scratches/dings and one small split) of the other.
Lot is comprised of a complete set of Wheeler's Geographical Survey West of the 100th Meridian (U.S.), 1870-1880 by Timothy O'Sullivan and William W. Bell, approximately 118 Western and 60 Eastern United States view cards, 19 The Grand Canyon Through the Stereoscope view cards, a carte de visite for John Charles Frémont, and two antique stereoscopic card viewers.
