American School, 20th Century Landscape Sketch: River and Hills . Unsigned. Pencil on cardboard, 3 3/4 x 5 1/8 in., framed. Condition: Foxing, toning, hinged to window mat with masking tape along the top edge of the reverse. N.B. Although the work is inscribed "Grant Wood, American Painter/acquired from Sixtina Gallery Fred Boxer in 1959/5 Ave. New York City" in pen on the frame backing, current scholarship does not support this attribution.
