Dennis Malone Carter (Irish/American, 1827-1881) Village Festival, Politics and Dancing Signed and dated "DM Carter/1858" l. c., identified on a presentation plaque, with a canvas stencil from Goupil & Co., New York, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 36 x 50 in. (91.4 x 127.0 cm), in a period frame. Condition: Tear with paint loss to center, stabilized on the reverse with tape, broad retouch to sky, craquelure. Provenance: A private Massachusetts collection.
