Anglo-Indian style mahogany and parcel gilt carved tilt top dining table the oval top with egg and dart border over a parcel gilt pierced and carved foliate apron supported by central foliate carved baluster support and four scrolled leafy legs terminating on four winged mythological beasts. Underside of table with remnants of tag "A. & N. Aux. C.S.L." which stands for Army & Navy Co-Operative Supply Limited. Approximate height 28.75", width 51", depth 38". Note: The Army & Navy Auxiliary Co-operative Supply Ltd. was formed in 1880 to supply fresh provisions, boots, furniture and estate agency services to the Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd. It was formed as a result of the desire of the management of the Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd to extend its selection of goods but to avoid jeopardizing existing trade. The company was located in Victoria Street, Westminster in buildings adjoining those of the Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd.
